1982 - John Paul II in Palermo
1982 has been for John Paul II, despite the aftermath of the attack suffered the previous year, an intense year of travel. Starting from the one in Africa to the one in the city of Palermo, on 20 th and 21 st of November. A tour among hospitals, universities, the Greek Orthodox community and the Belice earthquake victims. Karol Wojtyla arrived in a quite sad Palermo where “the hope of honest Sicilians” had been killed with the murder of the General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa. It was his first time he came to Sicily and the good and honest Christians welcomed him with joy making them feel less alone.
